Exploring Mexican Flavors at El Camino in Chicago

During my recent trip to Chicago, I stumbled upon El Camino, a vibrant Mexican restaurant in the heart of the city’s River North district, and it quickly became one of my favorites. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the lively atmosphere, with colorful murals, festive decor, and an upbeat vibe that immediately transported me to Mexico. The spacious patio offered the perfect spot to enjoy a warm evening, with twinkling lights overhead and the city buzz in the background.

I was eager to dive into their menu, which offered a modern take on traditional Mexican flavors. I started with their house-made guacamole, which was fresh, creamy, and had the perfect kick of spice. Paired with crispy tortilla chips, it was a perfect start. For my main course, I chose the Baja fish tacos, a standout on their menu. The battered fish was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and topped with a tangy slaw that balanced the richness of the fish. The smoky salsa verde added the perfect touch, making every bite a flavor explosion.

To wash it all down, I couldn’t resist trying one of their signature margaritas. El Camino’s margaritas are made with freshly squeezed lime juice, and the refreshing citrusy punch paired beautifully with my meal. I went for the spicy jalapeño margarita, which offered just the right amount of heat without overpowering the drink.

El Camino is more than just a place to eat — it’s a place to experience the bold and vibrant flavors of Mexico, served in a fun, welcoming atmosphere. If you’re in Chicago and craving authentic Mexican cuisine with a modern twist, El Camino is a must-visit. It’s a perfect spot to enjoy a lively night out with friends or a casual dinner that will leave you craving more.
